Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1763
This Qamis Hadith is a short report from Umm Salamah. It states that the most loved garment to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was the Qamis, a long shirt. The value of this narration is in its directness. It does not mention color, price, fabric, or extra rules. It simply records a garment that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم loved. The added note from Muhammad bin Ismail discusses which chain is more correct, especially the narration through Ibn Buraidah from his mother, from Umm Salamah. So this Hadith is useful for readers who want to know about the Prophet’s clothing, while also seeing that scholars paid close attention to the wording and chain.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Qamis is clearly named as a garment loved by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
- The Hadith stays focused on one clothing detail.
- The chain discussion shows care in preserving reports.
- Learning the Prophet’s clothing habits can be done without exaggeration.
