Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1815

This Hadith about a house without dates shows the place of dates as a basic food in the wording of the narration. 'Aishah narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said a house without dates, its inhabitants will be hungry. The statement points to dates as a useful household provision. The Hadith does not list many foods or give a full diet plan. It simply highlights dates as something that helps a household avoid hunger. Abu 'Eisa graded this narration Hasan Gharib from this route and mentioned that he asked Al-Bukhari about it. The wording should be explained without making broad claims beyond the text. The main message is that keeping dates in the home is connected here with food sufficiency and care for the people of the house.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Dates are presented as an important household food in this narration.
  • The Hadith links having dates with avoiding hunger in the home.
  • The report should be explained within its wording and not turned into a full diet rule.
