Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1822
This Hadith about locust during expeditions gives another report from Ibn Abi Awfa. He said they took part in seven military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم and ate locust. The wording is close to the previous narration, but this version says seven expeditions. The report also mentions another chain through Shu'bah, where the wording is more general: they took part in expeditions and ate locust. The core message stays the same. Locust was eaten by the Companions while they were with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. This Hadith is useful for people searching for locust halal hadith because it gives a direct example from the Prophet’s time. At the same time, the explanation should not go beyond the text. The narration does not discuss every detail of food law; it simply reports what happened.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Companions ate locust while accompanying the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
- Different chains may preserve the same report with slight wording differences.
- The Hadith shows the value of direct witness reports in Islamic knowledge.
- Questions about food should be answered with care and evidence.
