Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1875

This Hadith names two plants connected to khamr: the date-palm and the grapevine. Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said that khamr comes from these two trees. The narration is simple and focused. It does not discuss every possible source here, but it clearly names these two. For people searching for khamr from dates and grapes hadith, this report gives the phrase directly. The teaching is that khamr can be linked to familiar fruits and plants, so the issue is not only the outward source. A Muslim should pay attention to whether something becomes khamr or intoxicating, rather than only looking at where it came from.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The Hadith names the date-palm and grapevine as sources of khamr.
  • The wording connects khamr to familiar plants.
  • A drink’s source alone does not remove concern about khamr.
  • The narration keeps the focus on recognizing khamr clearly.
