Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1918
This hadith about sponsoring an orphan is short and full of meaning. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “I and the sponsor of an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two,” and he indicated with his index and middle finger. The image makes the reward easy to understand. The one who sponsors an orphan is shown as having a close place with the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in Paradise. The text does not explain every legal detail of sponsorship, so the explanation should stay simple: caring for and supporting an orphan is a highly honored deed. The hadith is often searched as “kafil al-yateem hadith,” and this wording gives its central message clearly.
What we learn from this hadith
- Sponsoring an orphan is linked with Paradise.
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used two fingers to show closeness.
- The hadith gives special honor to the sponsor of an orphan.
- Orphan care is shown as a deed with deep value.
