Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1954
This Hadith about thanking people and thanking Allah gives a clear lesson in gratitude. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet said whoever is not grateful to people is not grateful to Allah. The Hadith teaches that gratitude should not stay only in words directed to Allah while ignoring the people through whom help or kindness comes. When someone benefits us, thanking that person is part of good manners. The Hadith does not reduce gratitude to social politeness only. It connects it to one’s relationship with Allah. This makes everyday thanks meaningful. Saying thanks, recognizing help, and not acting entitled are all close to the message of the Hadith.
What we learn from this hadith
- Thanking people is connected to gratitude to Allah.
- A person should recognize kindness received from others.
- Good manners include showing appreciation.
- Ignoring people’s help is not the way of proper gratitude.
