Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1955
This Hadith about being grateful to people repeats a key teaching of gratitude. Abu Saeed narrated that the Prophet said whoever is not grateful to people is not grateful to Allah. The message is easy to understand and easy to practice. If someone helps, gives, supports, teaches, or shows kindness, the believer should not ignore it. Thanking people does not take away from thanking Allah. Rather, the Hadith links the two together. It teaches humility because an ungrateful person often acts as if help was owed to him. A grateful person sees kindness, admits it, and responds with good words and good conduct.
What we learn from this hadith
- Gratitude to people is tied to gratitude to Allah.
- A Muslim should not ignore kindness received from others.
- Thankfulness teaches humility and good manners.
- Good words of appreciation can reflect a grateful heart.
