حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ الطَّائِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنْ رَجُلاً، لَعَنَ الرِّيحَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " لاَ تَلْعَنِ الرِّيحَ فَإِنَّهَا مَأْمُورَةٌ وَإِنَّهُ مَنْ لَعَنَ شَيْئًا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِأَهْلٍ رَجَعَتِ اللَّعْنَةُ عَلَيْهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا أَسْنَدَهُ غَيْرَ بِشْرِ بْنِ عُمَرَ .
Ibn 'Abbas Narrated from:
A man cursed the wind in the presence of the Prophet, so he said: "Do Not Curse The Wind, For It Is Merely Doing As Ordered, And Whoever Curses Something Undeservingly, Then The Curse Returns Upon Him."

This hadith about not cursing the wind teaches careful speech even when something bothers us. Ibn Abbas narrated that a man cursed the wind in the presence of the Prophet. The Prophet told him not to curse the wind, because it is merely doing as ordered. He also said that whoever curses something undeservingly, the curse returns upon him. The lesson is clear: anger should not make a person curse things without right. The wind is described here as acting by order, so cursing it is not proper. This hadith also warns that an unfair curse is dangerous for the speaker. A believer should pause before speaking in anger.
