Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 208
This Hadith teaches replying to adhan in the simplest words. Abu Sa'eed narrates that Allah's Messenger said: when you hear the call, say the same as what the mu'adh-dhin says. The focus is not only hearing the adhan but taking part with the tongue. The listener does not stay fully passive. By repeating the call, a person joins the reminder of salah and the words of worship. The Hadith does not mention extra details here, so the explanation stays with its direct meaning: listen, repeat, and honor the call to prayer when it reaches you. This keeps the heart connected to the message being called out from the masjid.
What we learn from this hadith
- Listening to adhan should lead to a spoken response.
- The listener repeats what the mu'adh-dhin says.
- The adhan is a reminder to engage, not ignore.
- The Hadith teaches a simple act connected to the call to prayer.
