Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 214
This Hadith explains the five prayers and Friday prayer as a means of atonement. Abu Hurairah narrates that Allah's Messenger said the five prayers, and one Jumu'ah to the next Jumu'ah, are atonements for what is between them, as long as major sins have not been committed. The wording is balanced. It gives hope through regular salah and Friday prayer, but it also warns about major sins. The Hadith encourages steady worship, repeated return to Allah, and care in daily life. It does not present prayer as a cover for careless sinning; it links forgiveness with avoiding major sins. This keeps hope and caution together in one short teaching.
What we learn from this hadith
- The five prayers are described as atonement for what is between them.
- Friday prayer to Friday prayer is also mentioned as atonement.
- The Hadith adds the condition of avoiding major sins.
