Sa'd Narrated from:

The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'From (The Signs Of) The Son Of Adam'S Prosperity, Is His Satisfaction With What Allah Decreed For Him, And From The Son Of Adam'S Misery Is His Avoiding To Request Guidance From Allah, And From The Son Of Adam'S Misery Is His Anger With What Allah Decreed For Him."

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2151

This hadith about contentment with Qadar teaches how a servant should face Allah's decree. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that part of the son of Adam's prosperity is being satisfied with what Allah decreed for him. He also said that part of misery is leaving the request for guidance from Allah, and being angry with what Allah decreed. The hadith joins two key ideas: ask Allah for guidance and accept what He decrees. It does not mean a person cannot feel pain. It points the heart away from anger at Allah's decision and toward trust, prayer, and calm acceptance after the matter happens.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Contentment with Allah's decree is a sign of prosperity.
  • Leaving the request for guidance from Allah is warned against.
  • Anger with Allah's decree is described as a sign of misery.
  • The believer should combine seeking guidance with acceptance.
