Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2271
This hadith about the believer’s dream is short but meaningful. The Prophet (S.A.W) says that the dreams of the believer are a portion of the forty-six portions of Prophethood. The narration does not say that every dream is revelation, and it does not say that every dream must be acted on. It simply gives honor to true dreams seen by a believer by connecting them to a portion of Prophethood. Other narrations in this same group explain that dreams can be of different types, but this specific hadith focuses on the value of the believer’s dream. Its main message is to respect righteous dreams while staying within the wording of the narration.
What we learn from this hadith
- The believer’s dream has a special place in this narration.
- The hadith connects such dreams to a portion of Prophethood.
- The text does not claim that every dream is true guidance.
- A believer should treat dreams with care and not exaggeration.
