حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شِمْرِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ الأَخْرَمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تَتَّخِذُوا الضَّيْعَةَ فَتَرْغَبُوا فِي الدُّنْيَا " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ .
`Abdullah Narrated from:
The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Do Not Take To The Estate, Such That You Become Desirous Of The World."

This hadith about dunya is brief but direct. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said not to take to the estate such that a person becomes desirous of the world. When a person becomes deeply tied to land, property, and worldly gain, the heart may start leaning more toward dunya. The hadith teaches the believer to watch the effect of possessions on the heart.
