Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2739
This Hadith describes how the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم responded when Jews sneezed in his presence hoping he would say Yarhamukumullah. Instead, he said Yahdikumullahu Wa Yuslihu Balakum, meaning may Allah guide you and rectify your affairs. The Hadith about responding to sneezing shows careful speech. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم did not ignore them, but he chose words that asked Allah for guidance and improvement for them. The text does not expand into a full ruling for every situation, so the explanation should stay close to the narration. The main lesson is that replies can be kind, meaningful, and suited to the person being addressed.
