Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2822
This hadith about seeking counsel teaches that advice is not a casual matter. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, 'The one whose counsel is sought is entrusted.' When someone asks for advice, they are placing a kind of trust in the adviser. That means the adviser should not use the situation to mislead, expose, or harm the person asking. The hadith is short, but its meaning is strong for daily life: family advice, business advice, marriage advice, and private decisions should be handled with care. The text does not list every rule of consultation, so the clear lesson is simple: when people seek your counsel, act like someone holding an amanah.
What we learn from this hadith
- Giving advice is a trust, not just an opinion.
- A person asked for counsel should be honest and careful.
- Private matters shared for advice should be treated with respect.
- Good manners include being worthy of the confidence people place in you.
