Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2909
This narration from 'Ali bin Abi Talib gives the same central teaching: “The best of you is he who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.” The Hadith is short, but its message is wide. It tells us that Qur'an learning has a public benefit when it becomes teaching. A person may begin as a student, then become a source of help for others. The wording does not mention wealth, status, or public praise. It points to learning Allah's Book and teaching it as a sign of goodness. The Arabic text also notes that this route from 'Ali is known through a particular narrator, so it is best to focus carefully on the wording provided.
What we learn from this hadith
- Learning the Qur'an is praised in the Hadith.
- Teaching the Qur'an is directly connected to being among the best people.
- A Qur'an learner can become a source of benefit for others.
- The Hadith values service to Allah's Book over outward status.
