Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2913
This Hadith gives a clear image about the importance of having the Qur'an inside a person. Ibn 'Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said that the one who does not have the Qur'an inside him is like a ruined house. The wording points to emptiness and loss. A house that is ruined is not like a living, cared-for home. In the same way, a heart with no Qur'an is described with a serious comparison. The Hadith does not specify an amount or a full memorization requirement in the wording given. It simply warns against having nothing of the Qur'an inside. This makes it a strong reminder to learn, recite, and hold on to Allah's words.
What we learn from this hadith
- A believer should try to keep something of the Qur'an inside the heart.
- The Hadith compares a person with no Qur'an inside to a ruined house.
- Qur'an recitation and memorization help fill the heart with guidance.
- The warning is serious, but the wording does not specify an exact amount.
