Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2914
This Hadith speaks about the honor of the companion of the Qur'an. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that it will be said to the one who memorized the Qur'an: recite and rise, and recite melodiously as you used to recite in the world. Then the Hadith says that the person's rank will be at the last ayah he recites. The wording connects worldly recitation with rank in the Hereafter. It also mentions tartil, a measured and beautiful way of reciting, as the person used to do in the world. This Hadith encourages steady Qur'an memorization and careful recitation. It does not reduce Qur'an to memory alone; it presents recitation as something carried with the person beyond this life.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Hadith honors the one who memorized the Qur'an.
- Recitation in the world is linked to rank in the Hereafter.
- The wording encourages measured and careful recitation.
- A person's connection with the Qur'an can continue to matter after death.
