`Abdullah bin Yazid Al-Khatmi Al-Ansari Narrated from:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say in his supplication: “O Allah Grant Me Your Love And The Love Of Those Whose Love Will Benefit Me With You. O Allah, Whatever You Have Provided Me Of That Which I Love, Then Make It Strength For Me For That Which You Love. O Allah, And What You Have Kept From Me Of That Which I Love, Then Make It For Me A Period Of Rest In That Which You Love. (Allāhummarzuqnī ḤUbbuka, Wa ḤUbba Man Yanfa`Unī ḤUbbuhū `Indak. Allāhumma Mā Razaqtanī Mimmā UḥIbbu Faj`Alhu Quwwatan Lī Fīmā TuḥIbb. Allāhumma Wa Mā Zawaita `Annī Mimmā UḥIbbu Faj`Alhu Farāghan Lī Fīmā TuḥIbb). “

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3491
This Hadith records a supplication the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say. He asked Allah to grant him His love and the love of those whose love benefits with Allah. He also asked that whatever Allah provided of things he loved should become strength for what Allah loves. Then he asked that whatever Allah withheld of things he loved should become free time for what Allah loves. The dua teaches a balanced way to see both receiving and not receiving. If a person is given something loved, it should help in obedience. If something loved is kept away, that space can still be used for what Allah loves. This makes it a meaningful dua for Allah’s love, provision, and contentment.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked Allah for love that benefits with Him.
- Loved provisions should be used as strength for what Allah loves.
- What is withheld can become time for what Allah loves.
- The dua teaches a faithful way to view both gain and loss.
