Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 65
This hadith gives a clear statement about water and janabah. Ibn Abbas narrated that one of the wives of the Prophet performed ghusl from a bowl. Allah's Messenger then wanted to perform wudu from it. She told him that she had been junub. The Prophet replied, "Indeed, water does not become junub." The main lesson is direct: a person's state of janabah does not transfer to the water simply because the person used it. This hadith is often searched as water does not become junub hadith or إن الماء لا يجنب. The explanation should stay close to the text. It is about the purity of water in this specific setting, where the Prophet wanted to use water from the bowl.
What we learn from this hadith
- Water does not become junub simply because a junub person used it.
- The Prophet answered a concern about purification with a clear and simple statement.
- The hadith shows ease in using water when it remains suitable for wudu.
- A person's state of janabah should not be wrongly attached to the water itself.
