Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 700
This hadith about hastening iftar is reported as a statement from Allah: the worshippers most beloved to Me are the quickest to break their fast. The meaning fits the simple Sunnah of not delaying iftar after its time has come. It teaches that obedience is not always found in adding extra hardship. Sometimes it is found in stopping exactly where Allah and His Messenger set the limit. The hadith does not tell a person to rush before sunset. It praises being quick once the fast has reached its proper end. This gives iftar a warm spiritual meaning, not just a meal after hunger.
What we learn from this hadith
- Hastening iftar after its time enters is loved by Allah, as stated in the hadith.
- The hadith teaches not to add delay as if it were better.
- The fasting person should end the fast when its proper time arrives.
