Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 801
This Hadith about gift for the fasting person gives a simple picture of care and honor toward someone who is fasting. The wording says that the gift of the fasting person is fragrant oil and a censer. The main lesson is not about a large or costly gift. It points to a gentle form of kindness: giving something pleasant, clean, and refreshing. Since fasting can bring tiredness, dryness, and long hours of restraint, a thoughtful gift can lift the person’s mood. The Arabic text also records Abu Isa’s comment that this narration is gharib and that its chain is not strong. So the meaning should be presented carefully, without making broad rulings from it.
What we learn from this hadith
- A fasting person may be honored with a simple and pleasant gift.
- Kindness during fasting can be shown through small acts of care.
- The chain remarks in the text remind readers to be careful when using this report.
