34/33. Chapter:

The purchase by the ruler himself

وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا اشْتَرَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَمَلاً مِنْ عُمَرَ. وَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا جَاءَ مُشْرِكٌ بِغَنَمٍ، فَاشْتَرَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهُ شَاةً. وَاشْتَرَى مِنْ جَابِرٍ بَعِيرًا.Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما said, “The Prophet ﷺ bought a camel from ‘Umar.” Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما purchased (goods) by himself. ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr رضي الله عنهما said: “A Mushrik came with sheep and the Prophet ﷺ bought a sheep from him and (the Prophet ﷺ also bought) a camel from Jabir.”

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتِ اشْتَرَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ يَهُودِيٍّ طَعَامًا بِنَسِيئَةٍ، وَرَهَنَهُ دِرْعَهُ‏.‏

Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) bought food grains from a Jew on credit and mortgaged his armor to him.
