وَالْأَفَكِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ النِّجْسِ وَالنَّجَسِ يُقَالُ: إِفْكُهُمْ أَفْكُهُمْ وَأَفَكُهُمْ فَمَنْ قَالَ: "أَفَكَهُمْ" يَقُولُ صَرَفَهُمْ عَنْ الْإِيمَانِ وَكَذَّبَهُمْ كَمَا قَالَ {يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ} يُصْرَفُ عَنْهُ مَنْ صُرِفَ

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ ذَهَبْتُ أَسُبُّ حَسَّانَ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ لاَ تَسُبَّهُ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُنَافِحُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم. وَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ اسْتَأْذَنَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي هِجَاءِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَالَ " كَيْفَ بِنَسَبِي ". قَالَ لأَسُلَّنَّكَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا تُسَلُّ الشَّعْرَةُ مِنَ الْعَجِينِ. وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ فَرْقَدٍ، سَمِعْتُ هِشَامًا، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سَبَبْتُ حَسَّانَ، وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ كَثَّرَ عَلَيْهَا.
Hisham's father Narrated from:
I started abusing Hassan in front of `Aisha. She said, "Do not abuse him as he used to defend Allah's Apostle (against the infidels). `Aisha added, "Once Hassan took the permission from the Prophet (ﷺ) to say poetic verses against the infidels. On that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'How will you exclude my forefathers (from that)? Hassan replied, 'I will take you out of them as one takes a hair out of the dough." Hisham's father added, "I abused Hassan as he was one of those who spoke against `Aisha."

This hadith about Hassan bin Thabit shows a balanced and fair way of remembering people. Hisham's father began abusing Hassan in front of Aisha because Hassan had been among those who spoke against her. Aisha stopped him and said not to abuse Hassan, because he used to defend Allah's Messenger against the infidels. She also mentioned that Hassan once sought permission to use poetry against the unbelievers, and the Prophet asked how his own ancestry would be kept safe from that. Hassan answered that he would separate the Prophet from them like a hair taken out of dough. The report teaches restraint even when hurt has happened.
