Sahih Bukhari 5300 — Good in the Families of the Ansar
Al-Li'an

Sahih Bukhari : 5300
Sahih BukhariHadith Number 5300
Anas bin Malik Narrated from:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Shall I tell you of the best families among the Ansar?" They (the people) said, "Yes, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The best are Banu- An-Najjar, and after them are Banu `Abdil Ash-hal, and after them are Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj, and after them are Banu Sa`ida." The Prophet (ﷺ) then moved his hand by closing his fingers and then opening them like one throwing something, and then said, "Anyhow, there is good in all the families of the Ansar. "

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 5300
This hadith about the Ansar highlights honor, fairness, and balanced praise. Allah's Messenger named several families among the Ansar in order: Banu An-Najjar, then Banu Abdil Ash-hal, then Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj, then Banu Saida. The main lesson is not only that some families were praised first. The ending matters a lot: there is good in all the families of the Ansar. That keeps the praise from becoming a reason for arrogance or division. In simple words, the Prophet gave rank where rank was due, but he also protected the dignity of the wider community. For anyone searching for a hadith about Ansar, this narration teaches respect, gratitude, and careful speech when comparing people.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet praised specific Ansar families by name.
- Ranking did not remove goodness from the other Ansar families.
- Praise should be balanced so it does not create unfair contempt.
- The final words remind believers to notice good in a whole community.
