The game killed by the Mi'rad
Hadith About Trained Hound Hunting in Islam
Sahih Bukhari : 5476
Sahih BukhariHadith Number 5476
`Adi bin Hatim Narrated from:
I asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) about the Mi'rad. He said, "If you hit the game with its sharp edge, eat it, but if the Mi'rad hits the game with its shaft with a hit by its broad side do not eat it, for it has been beaten to death with a piece of wood. (i.e. unlawful)."I asked, "If I let loose my trained hound after a game?" He said, "If you let loose your trained hound after game, and mention the name of Allah, then you can eat." I said, "If the hound eats of the game?" He said "Then you should not eat of it, for the hound has hunted the game for itself and not for you." I said, "Some times I send my hound and then I find some other hound with it?" He said "Don't eat the game, as you have mentioned the Name of Allah on your dog only and not on the other."

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 5476
This hadith about trained hound hunting in Islam gives several clear answers to Adi bin Hatim. If the Mi'rad hits with its sharp edge, the game may be eaten. If it kills by the broad side, it is not eaten because it was beaten to death. When Adi asked about sending his trained hound, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that if he sends it and mentions Allah's name, he may eat. If the hound eats from the game, he should not eat, because it caught it for itself. If another dog is found with it, he should not eat, because Allah's name was mentioned on his own dog and not on the other one.
What we learn from this hadith
- The hadith separates piercing from a broad-side blow.
- Mentioning Allah's name is tied to sending the trained hound.
- If the hound eats from the game, the hunter does not eat it.
- If another dog joins the hunt, the game is avoided.
