Mishkat al-MasabihHadith Number 4665
وَعَن جَابر قَالَ: أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: لِفُلَانٍ فِي حَائِطِي عَذْقٌ وَأَنَّهُ آذَانِي مَكَانُ عَذْقِهِ فَأَرْسَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: «أَنْ بِعْنِي عَذْقَكَ» قَالَ: لَا. قَالَ: «فَهَبْ لِي» . قَالَ: لَا. قَالَ: «فَبِعْنِيهِ بِعَذْقٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ»؟ فَقَالَ: لَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «مَا رَأَيْتُ الَّذِي هُوَ أَبْخَلُ مِنْكَ إِلَّا الَّذِي يَبْخَلُ بِالسَّلَامِ» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي «شُعَبِ الْإِيمَانِ»
Jabir Narrated from:
A man came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said that a certain person had a palm tree in his garden and its presence was disturbing to him. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم sent to the man asking him to sell him his palm tree. He declined. Then he asked him to give it to him (as a gift). He again declined Then, he asked him to sell it to him for a palm tree in paradise, but he persisted in declining. So, Allah's Messenger said, "I have not seen anyone more stingy than you except the man who is stingy with offering (or responding to) salaam." [2]
