Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2183b
This entry reports the Hadith of Ibn Umar through two different chains of transmitters and says it carries the meaning of Malik’s report. The core teaching is about secret conversation etiquette. When three people are together, two should not privately talk while leaving the third person out. Since this narration is a confirming report, the explanation remains tied to that meaning. The Hadith about secret talk in Islam reminds Muslims to think about the person who may feel excluded. Words can be private, but their effect can still be felt by others. Good manners mean being aware of the group and avoiding behavior that may trouble a companion.
What we learn from this hadith
- This narration supports the same rule about not excluding the third person.
- Private talk should be handled with care in small groups.
- A Muslim should consider how conversation affects companions.
- Good speech includes good timing and good manners.
