حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كَسَعَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ رَجُلاً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَأَلَهُ الْقَوَدَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " دَعُوهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُنْتِنَةٌ " . قَالَ ابْنُ مَنْصُورٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ عَمْرٌو قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا .
Jabir bin `Abdullah Narrated from:
A person from the emigrants struck the back of an Ansari. He came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and asked for compensation. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: Leave it. for it is something disgusting. Ibn Mansur said that in the narration transmitted on the authority of Amr (these words are also found):" I heard Jabir."

This Hadith gives a short but strong warning against turning conflict into group rivalry. A man from the Muhajirin struck the back of an Ansari, and the matter was brought to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم with a request for compensation. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said to leave it, because it was something disgusting. Based only on this wording, the focus is the ugly nature of the call and the conflict around it. The Hadith teaches that believers should not allow group identity to become a reason for anger, revenge, or public division. Even when a wrong has happened, the response should not be fueled by factional pride. The phrase “it is disgusting” makes the moral lesson very direct.
