أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنِ اسْتَعَاذَ بِاللَّهِ فَأَعِيذُوهُ وَمَنْ سَأَلَكُمْ بِاللَّهِ فَأَعْطُوهُ وَمَنِ اسْتَجَارَ بِاللَّهِ فَأَجِيرُوهُ وَمَنْ آتَى إِلَيْكُمْ مَعْرُوفًا فَكَافِئُوهُ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَادْعُوا لَهُ حَتَّى تَعْلَمُوا أَنْ قَدْ كَافَأْتُمُوهُ " .
Ibn 'Umar Narrated from:
The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever seeks refuge with (the name of) Allah, grant him refuge; whoever asks of you in (the name of) Allah, give him; whoever seeks protection with (the name of Allah, give him protection. Whoever does you a favor, then reciprocate, and if you cannot, then supplicate for him until you think that you have repaid him.'

Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 2567
This hadith about giving for Allah sets out several social duties. Whoever seeks refuge with Allah should be granted refuge. Whoever asks in the name of Allah should be given. Whoever seeks protection with Allah should be protected. The Prophet also taught that when someone does a favor, a person should reciprocate. If he cannot repay it with something similar, he should supplicate for that person until he thinks he has repaid him. The hadith brings together giving, protection, gratitude, and dua. It also teaches that favors should not be treated lightly, even when a person cannot repay with wealth.

- Protection and refuge are serious matters in this hadith.
