Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 3298
This hadith from Jabir bin Abdullah states that the Messenger of Allah forbade taking a woman as a co-wife to her paternal aunt or maternal aunt. The narration is direct and easy to understand. It is part of a group of hadiths that repeat the same marriage rule through more than one chain. The key phrase for readers is forbidden co-wives in Islam, because the text is about a woman being joined with her aunt in the same marriage arrangement. The hadith does not give extra examples here. It names the paternal aunt and maternal aunt only, and the explanation should remain tied to that wording.
What we learn from this hadith
- A woman should not be taken as co-wife to her paternal aunt.
- A woman should not be taken as co-wife to her maternal aunt.
- Jabir reported this prohibition from the Messenger of Allah.
- The hadith gives a focused rule about marriage combinations.
