Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 3893
This hadith reports from Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab that the Messenger of Allah forbade Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah. Both are named agricultural transaction types, and the core message is direct: they were prohibited. People searching for Al-Muhaqalah and Al-Muzabanah in Islam may expect detailed definitions, but this specific wording does not provide them. It should therefore be explained without importing descriptions from another narration as though they were stated here. The practical lesson is to avoid the two named practices and to understand the structure of any farm sale before agreeing to it. Repeated reports on the same topic also show that the prohibition was preserved in several narrations. Still, each report should be read according to its own wording and level of detail.
What we learn from this hadith
- Al-Muhaqalah was forbidden by the Messenger of Allah.
- Al-Muzabanah was also forbidden.
- Agricultural contracts should be identified before they are accepted.
- This brief wording should not be expanded with unstated details.
