Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4426
This hadith about storing sacrificial meat clearly mentions two stages. Jabir reports that the Messenger of Allah first forbade eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days. He then said, “Eat, take some with you, and store some.” The later statement in this same narration allows three practical uses: eating the meat, carrying provisions for travel, and keeping some for later. The hadith should not be reduced to only one of these points. It speaks about food at home, food taken on a journey, and food saved. For readers asking whether qurbani meat can be stored, this narration directly records permission to store it, while also preserving the fact that an earlier prohibition had been given.
What we learn from this hadith
- The narration records an earlier prohibition and a later instruction.
- Sacrificial meat could be eaten.
- Some of the meat could be taken as travel provision.
- Some of the meat could be stored.
