This hadith about killing a believer intentionally tells us that people in Al-Kufah differed about the verse, “And whoever kills a believer intentionally.” Sa’eed bin Jubair went to Ibn Abbas to ask directly. Ibn Abbas answered that the verse was revealed among the last of what was revealed, and that nothing abrogated it after that. The report is short, but its message is weighty.
