Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1899
This report about the parent’s pleasure is narrated from Abdullah bin Amr. The raised wording says, “The Lord’s pleasure is in the parent’s pleasure, and the Lord’s anger is in the parent’s anger.” The text also records another route from Shu’bah with similar wording, but not raised to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and Abu Eisa says that this is more correct. So the explanation should include both parts: the meaning carried in the wording and the Hadith scholar’s note about the stronger form of the report. The core topic is the serious place of parental pleasure and displeasure in a Muslim’s conduct.
What we learn from this hadith
- The wording links the Lord’s pleasure with the parent’s pleasure.
- The wording links the Lord’s anger with the parent’s anger.
- Abu Eisa notes that the non-raised form is more correct.
