Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1975
This hadith about good conduct teaches that excellence in Islam is strongly tied to manners. The Messenger of Allah said, “The best of you are those best in conduct.” The narration also says that the Prophet was not obscene and did not utter obscenities. This makes the lesson very practical. Good character is not only about big public acts. It includes how a person speaks, what words they avoid, and how they carry themselves with people. The hadith links being among the best with having beautiful conduct. It also gives the Prophet’s own manner as an example in the same text: he was not foul in speech or behavior.
What we learn from this hadith
- The best people are described as those best in conduct.
- Good character includes avoiding obscene speech.
- The Prophet was not foul or obscene in his manner.
- A Muslim should work on manners as part of faith.
