Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2149

This hadith about Murji'ah and Qadariyyah gives a strong warning. Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said there are two groups in his Ummah for whom there is no share in Islam: the Murji'ah and the Qadariyyah. The text itself does not explain the full details of these groups, so the safest reading here is to stay with the warning as it is stated. The hadith shows that beliefs connected to faith and Qadar are not small matters. It teaches the believer to treat creed with care and not to speak about Allah's decree lightly or in a way that rejects revealed guidance.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The hadith gives a serious warning about false beliefs.
  • Matters of faith and Qadar should be treated with care.
