Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 2983
This short hadith gives a clear answer to a common search: what is Salat al-Wusta? Samurah bin Jundab narrated that the Prophet of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "The middle Salat is Salat al-Asr." The wording is direct and easy to understand. It does not add a long story or many details. Its main focus is the identity of the middle prayer. For a reader, the teaching is to notice the special place of Asr among the prayers mentioned in the hadith. The hadith also supports the wider reminder to guard the prayers carefully. Since the text names Asr plainly, the explanation should not move away from that point or add unrelated meanings.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم identified Salat al-Wusta as Salat al-Asr.
- Short hadiths can carry clear guidance when the wording is direct.
