Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3021
This hadith gives a clear warning about major sins in Islam. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) mentioned associating others with Allah, disobeying parents, and either the false oath or disobedience to parents, while the narrator Shu'bah was unsure about the exact wording at that point. The core message is simple: some sins carry a very heavy weight before Allah. Shirk breaks the foundation of faith. Disobedience to parents damages one of the closest duties a person has. A false oath uses Allah’s name or a serious claim to hide the truth. This hadith teaches believers to take faith, family duties, and truthfulness seriously.
What we learn from this hadith
- Associating others with Allah is named among the major sins.
- Disobeying parents is treated as a serious moral failure.
- A false oath is a dangerous sin because it hides truth with a serious claim.
- A believer should guard both worship and character.
