Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 50
This hadith about nadh after wudu reports that Jibril came to the Prophet and said, "O Muhammad! When you perform wudu then perform nadh." According to common explanation of the word, nadh refers to sprinkling a little water. The same passage, however, includes a caution from Abu Eisa. He calls the hadith gharib and reports that Al-Hasan bin Ali Al-Hashimi was described as munkar in hadith. It also says there was confusion in this chapter. So the explanation should be careful. The text mentions an instruction linked to wudu, but it also clearly records weakness and disagreement in the chain. A reader should not treat this report as stronger than the passage allows.
What we learn from this hadith
- The report mentions nadh after wudu.
- The same passage warns that the narration has problems in its chain.
- Hadith grading should be noticed before making strong claims from a report.
