Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 57

This narration about waswas in wudu says that there is a shaitan for wudu called Al-Walahan, and it warns against misgivings about water. The message in the wording is easy to understand: a person should not let doubts about water disturb purification. But the same passage gives a clear caution. Abu Eisa says the hadith is gharib, its chain is not strong, and nothing sound from the Prophet is established in this chapter. He also mentions weakness in the narrator Kharijah. So the hadith should not be used with more strength than the text allows. The safe takeaway from the passage is to notice the warning about obsessive doubts while also respecting the grading note.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The report warns against misgivings about water in wudu.
  • The passage states that its chain is not strong.
  • Care is needed when sharing weak reports about worship.
