Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 1996b
This Sahih Muslim Nabidh vessels hadith gives a clear report from Abu Sa'id Khudri. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) forbade preparing Nabidh in four named containers: gourd, a pitcher covered with green pitch, a hollow stump, and a varnished jar. The main point is not a general talk about all drinks. It is a focused instruction about how Nabidh was not to be prepared in these vessels. This makes the hadith about Nabidh in gourd and related vessels useful for anyone searching the Islamic drink vessels hadith. The wording is simple but exact. It teaches care in following the Prophet’s instruction as it was stated, without adding extra vessel types or changing the named items.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) forbade preparing Nabidh in certain named vessels.
- A Muslim should pay attention to specific wording in a prophetic instruction.
- The report names the vessel types clearly, not a broad list beyond them.
