Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4112
This narration records Abu Wa'il reporting the statement of 'Abdullah: defaming a Muslim is evildoing and fighting him is kufr. The wording here is presented as 'Abdullah's statement. It protects two things that can be damaged during conflict. First is honor, which can be harmed by insults and defamation. Second is physical safety, which is threatened by fighting. The report uses stronger language for fighting, showing that violence is not a minor extension of an argument. The teaching is practical: guard the tongue, do not humiliate another Muslim, and do not allow anger to move toward physical attack. Respectful conduct helps preserve peace among believers.
What we learn from this hadith
- The wording is reported as a statement of 'Abdullah.
- Defaming a Muslim is described as evildoing.
- Fighting a Muslim is met with a severe warning.
- Both honor and physical safety should be protected.
