Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 3264
This hadith about Allah withholding their hands speaks about a serious event during Salat As-Subh. Eighty people came down from the mountain of At-Tan’im intending to kill the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم. They were captured, yet the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم later let them go. After that, Allah revealed the ayah: “And it is He who has withheld their hands from you and your hands from them.” The hadith points to Allah’s protection and also shows the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم restraint after the danger had passed. The text does not turn this into a general rule for every case, but in this event, the attackers were stopped, captured, and then released. It is a powerful reminder that safety and control come by Allah’s will.
What we learn from this hadith
- Allah protected the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his companions in this event.
- The attackers were captured before their plan succeeded.
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم let them go after they were taken.
- The ayah connects the event to Allah withholding harm.
